Microteaching

Hello everyone! Thank you for your cooperating with us in the microteaching. I had good experience by the practice. I will write strong points and weak points about my teaching.

☆Strong Points☆

When we made plans of the class, we try to use the methods which we learned in the last class about presenting a structure. So we showed you some pictures at first, and then we said "Do you play tennis?" and ask you to repeat it.

By this way, I think that students concentrate on the what teachers say and they can learn new grammar practically with a short play.

☆Weak points☆

We had some weak points. First, we needed more enough practice activities. Before the communicative activities students need to practice the new structure again and again. For example, repeating the sentence by indiviual students or practicing with their partners. We should also have asked the students whether they understand the meaning and the form before the communicative activities.

Second, we should have walked around the students and checked their activities during the Interview game. In order to make the activity smooth, teachers should help the students according to their abilities and motivation.

Third, it was difficult for me to talk to the students in English and Japanese. My class was for the first grade of the junior high school, and it is hard for the students to understand the English explanation. So I talked you almost in Japanese, but students also need to get enough inputs from the teacher. I think I should have used English for simple instructions.

I had many weak points, but I could enjoy my microteaching. Please give me your opinions about my teaching, and thank you very much!!!

Hello, Wakame! This is Pizza.
As you wrote, I think students needs more practice (we practiced each sentences only a few times).
But I enjoyed your teaching because I could communicate with classmates. And the pictures were very interesting because at first we couldn't see what was witten there by hiding things (for example the piano and an apple). It will entertain students. And your instruction was very clear so I could understand what I had to do next easily.
Thank you for your teaching!

Hello!!
I think that the way of practicing of pronunciation was very useful for students. And, Interview game was interesting! If you walked around the students and checked our activities during the game, you could notice students who didn't understand and activities became more smoothly, I think.
Finally, I think your smile and loud voice was very good!! Thanks to your smile and loud voice, students could concentrate on your class!
Thank you for your teaching!!

Hi Wakame, this is Naojin.
I think your micro teaching was good. It was interesting and useful for 1st grade students because they can understand what you sais by looking at pictures. As you said, you can improve with more practice activities and examples. 1st grade students are not accustomed to English explanation, so you can use easy English, for example, "Do you understand?" "Repeat after me."
Thank you for your micro teaching.

Hi Wakame! This is Misato.
Your class was very interesting for me!
Especially your picture was very nice, I think! Daiki's clothes color were same as the picture. So I was very surprised!!
Also I think it is dificult to choose words Japanese or English. But maybe students don't understand what teacher said without Japanese, I think. So according to circumstances we should choose words.
Anyway, thank you for your teaching! Good job☆

Hi,Wakame! Your lesson was very interesting. I think your blackboard seats are so helpful for students ,and they can relax.
Interview Game was also nice activity. We could communicate with friends.
Weak points, as you wrote, we should practice more. We have to teach English through more example, and students more understand!
Thank you for your teaching!

Hi!Wakame☆This is Kanage.
Thank you for your micro teaching.
Students could think what they have to study trough some pictures and conversation of teachers.
It was so good for students to learn.
Game activity was very good.
However, if you comfirm whether student could understand the topic or not before the game, student might understant the topic more firmly.
Your teaching was very useful for me!!
Thanks♪♪

Thank you for your micro teaching!! I had watched you prepared for this very hard, so your effort could produce good class, I think.
But I thought Interview Game had a little difficult points. Actually I had problems next:
ME; Do you like Sushi?
KANAGE; Yes,I do!
In the fact KANAGE wrote her favorite food is Yoghurt in her sheet. But she likes Sushi actually. So she answered "YES". But in this game we must guess partner's favorite food in their sheet. We mistook this game ways. But I think it is easy to make misunderstanding. This game way and explanation should be thought more.
Enyway, your micro teaching was very good! I could enjoy your class. Thank You!!

Wakana,
Thank you for your teaching. And your reflection of your lesson was well-written. You are aware of good points and weak points of your lesson very well. Now I will tell you other good and weak points.
I think your work sheets were well-made. I especially liked vocabulary notes. They would help students making questions very much. But in your class, students would not understand the structure with its affirmative sentence. If I teach a interrogative structure like 'Do you~?', I would teach it in relation to its affirmative. What do you think about it?
Thanks.

I think your lesson's strong point is your using picture. I think these picture were prepared very well. These picture get students' attention effectively. So we could understand about the target structure without boring.

I impressed that your cheerful teaching! The 3 step was clear so, understandable. I am also not sure what better partition of explanation & activities. We need to think more about it and improve by trial and error. Thank you for your teaching and see you tomorrow!

nakki さんのコメント...

Hi!This is Nakki.
You smiled during the class,it is important for good teaching.I agree with your idea.If you give more example and practice, comunicative activity is more smooth and effevtive for students. Also you had check whether they could unedrstand or not.I think it is important.
You demonstrated how to do the comunicative activity before it.This was good point.
